Poonam Yadav joined in January 2016 with a HTRA and she is working on involvement of microRNAs in cancer with emphasis on feroptosis. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology and master’s degree in Biotechnology.

Akshayaa Ganesh

Akshayaa Ganesh is a M.Sc. Molecular Biology graduate from Dr. ALM PG IBMS, University of Madras. She joined the laboratory as Junior Research Fellow in a DBT-BioCare project under the guidance of Dr. PriyankaSamji in May 2018. She is involved in studying differentially expressed miRNAs in cervical cancer cells after treatment with polyphenolics and other anti-cancer drugs.

Shabir Zargar

ShabirZargar has received his B.Sc in Biotechnology and Biochemistry from Bangalore University and completed his M.Sc in Biochemistry from University of Kashmir. He joined lab as CSIR-JRF fellow and his research mainly focuses on “Role and regulation of oncogenic miR-155 in Tongue carcinoma and existence of feedback loop is responsible for miR-155 over expression in Tongue carcinoma.

Chandra Kishore

Chandra Kishore did his MSc in Zoology with specialization in Epigenetics and chromatin biology from Department of Zoology, University of Delhi (Hindu College). He has qualified CSIR-NET JRF as well asGATE and joined the lab as a PhD student. He is working on mechanism of anti-cancer drug activity, cell signaling, metastasis and drug resistance in colorectal cancer.

Dr. Nalini.V

Dr. Nalini.V joined lab in 2016 as Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF). She has pursued her Master of Science and Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences from Birla institute of Science and Technology, Pilani, Rajasthan. She is working on the functional characterization of miRNA-mRNA involved in chemo/radio resistance of cervical cancer cells.

Dr.Rachana Sharma

Dr.Rachana Sharma joined cancer biology lab in 2018 as a post-doctoral fellow (Department ofBiotechnology- Research Associate, DBT-RA). She is currently working in the area of ‘Cancer Stem Cells’. She earned her M.Sc and Ph. D (CSIR JRF)degree in Biochemistry from University of Mysore in snake venom pharmacology. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor for a year in Karpagam University, Coimbatore.

Priyadharshini

Priya,Joined in Aug 2015 with HTRA and she is working on Plumbagin and Wnt signaling in the context of Colorectal cancer stem cells.She has done her bachelor degree (B.Tech) from TNAU(Tamil Nadu Agricultural University) and qualified GATE-2015.

Dr. Poornima Devi.N

Dr. Poornima devi.N joined lab in 2018 as Post-Doctoral Fellow (WPDF) and she has done her Doctoral degree from Anna University, Chennai. She is interested in studying the underlying molecular mechanisms of colonospheres.

Dr. Priyanka Samji

Dr. Priyanka Samji joined lab in December 2017 as Women scientist, DBT-Biocare. Her research work mainly focuses on miRNA profiling in cervical cancer cells. She has completed her Ph.D from IISc Bangalore in Molecular endocrinology. Further, she worked as an Assistant professor for 8 years in mLAC Bangalore University where she was also actively involved in BTFS and STAR programs sponsored by DBT.

Priyanshu Sharma

Priyanshu Sharma has joined the lab in July, 2016 as a Ph.D. research scholar. His work is focused on High-Mobility-Group proteins and their miRNA mediated regulation in cervical cancer. He has obtained his post-graduation degree from Gautam Buddha University, Gr. Noida, India and Bachelor’s from Amity University Lucknow.

Dr. Satarupa Banerjee

Dr. Satarupa Banerjee has joined Cancer Biology Laboratory in August 2017 as Institute Postdoctoral Fellow. She has pursued PhD from Medical Imaging and Computation for Theranostic Lab, School of Medical Science and Technology, IIT Kharagpur and was a postdoctoral fellow in La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, USA for a short tenure before joining the lab. Currently she works in the area of Cancer Informatics, with special emphasis to cervical and breast cancer. She focuses on mining of new stage based survival biomarkers using state of the art machine learning and deep learning tools.

Dr. Vinoth Rajendran

Dr.Vinoth Rajendran has joined as National Postdoctoral fellow (SERB-NPDF) on July 2018. His work focuses on developing liposomal system for effective delivery of therapeutic agents (anticancer drugs, miRNAs) and understanding the regulation of miRNAs in oral cancer. Also, he has undergone one year of post-doctoral experience from CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad on effective delivery of siRNA using solid lipid nanoparticles for chikungunya virus. He has obtained his Ph.D from University of Delhi, Dept. of Biochemistry, on liposomal delivery of antimalarial drugs and biological evaluation of small molecules against Plasmodium strains.

Sindhu K J

Sindhu K J joined our lab in Dec 2016 as a Research Scholar (Ph.D.). She is trying to identify newer strategies to overcome radioresistance in cervical cancer most often seen in clinics. Her work tries to narrow down one potent miRNA that can target several molecules contributing to this phenomenon thereby providing a solution to the above said problem. She finished her post-graduation from NIT, Allahabad, India and Bachelor’s from Anna University, Chennai, India.

Vidya P Warrier

Vidya P Warrier has pursued her MSc in Plant Science from Central University of Kerala, and has joined the lab in July 2017 as a PhD scholar with CSIR-JRF (June 2016). She is working on the functional study of predicted driver mutations in epidermal growth factor receptor.
