Satya Prakash Singh is a Ph.D student and joined in July 2008. He is working on HIV/SIV accessory proteins such as Vpr and Vpx. Major part of his work involves understanding the mechanism by which these accessory proteins help in early stage of virus life cycle. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biology and master’s degree in Biotechnology.
Indu Jose T. (CSIR-SRF) is a graduate student who joined the lab in January 2009. Her work focuses on the functional characterization of a putative nucleolar GTPase, namely GNL3L. She obtained her bachelor's degree (B.Sc) in Biotechnology (Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education) and post graduation degree (M.Sc) in Molecular Biology (Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Madras).
R.Sneha Priya, is a GATE fellowship student, who joined as M.S student in July 2008 in Laboratory of Molecular Virology and later upgraded to direct Ph.D. She has completed her Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Biotechnology. Her research objective primarily is to study the Indian subtype C HIV-1 envelope protein(Env). As part of the study, she is characterizing unique functional domains in the cytoplasmic tail of a chronic Indian HIV-1 isolate. Secondly, based on characterization, She is designed a new Env based immunogen as a candidate AIDS vaccine, whose efficacy will be tested in rabbits and in process of testing in macaques.
