area: Prevention of Biofilm formation in orthopaedic & urological practices
In medicine, biofilm plays a pernicious role as they are antibiotic resisitant and their colonization at the
tissue-implant interface creates difficulties for the surgeons. My work is primarily focussed on
screening, characterization and validation of biopolymers/synthetic polymers for its use as a biodegradable, localized antibiotic
delivery vehicle for infection control. Surface modification of the metal implants and ureteral stents
for improved bactericidal activity and prolonged implantation time.
