Biomass conversion: Bio-ethanol

*    Consolidated bioprocess technology development to convert biomass and starch to ethanol.

*    Isolation of novel bacterial strains for efficient utilization of cellulosics to form ethanol.

*    Identification of novel enzymes for conversion of cellulosics to glucose and xylose.

*    Protein engineering of cellulases and hemicellulases for efficient hydrolysis.

Molecular Bioremediation

*    Isolation and characterization of novel microbes for Cr(VI) reduction.

*    Evaluation of environmental factors on Cr(VI) bio-transformation.

*    Purification, characterization and kinetics of chromate reductase.
