Synthetic polymers are not biocompatible, which necessitates some surface modification for its use in vivo. Surface modification could be physical, chemical or biochemical in nature. It's proposed that modification of the surfaces of polyurethane (PU) and polycarbonate (PC), could be done by impregnation of the polymers with silver nanoparticle by physisorption, Langmuir-Blodgett film deposition and so on and study their bacterial and haemo compatibility, and growth of animal cells. The effects of metal concentration employed for coating and the type of impregnation on the biological properties will be validated. Changes in the physical, chemical and surface properties of the polymer before and after impregnation with nanoparticles, and after exposing them with the microorganisms will be analyzed.
