Signal Transduction Laboratory is located in the third floor of Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta School of Biosciences Building in IIT Madras.Founded in 2002, Department of Biotechnology, housed in Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta School of Biosciences Building, caters the research need of life sciences in diverse field like bio-process technology, biophysics and biochemistry, cancer biology, developmental biology, medical biology and computational biology.

The Signal Transduction Laboratory was established with an aim to address research problems pertaining to the process of cell signaling. The thrust areas in our lab are, (i) mechanism of activation of GPCRs and understanding their signalling pathways, (ii) structure-function relationship of novel calcium-binding proteins.
