Ph.D Students


I have completed my Bachelors and Masters degree in Zoology from Ethiraj College for Women, University of Madras. My research area involves studies on medicinal plant extracts and their active ingredients for cytotoxicity and molecular mechanism of cell death on human cancer cells.


I did my Master of science, Biotechnology, at SRM university, Chennai and Master of Philosophy in Biotechnology from TANUVAS, Chennai. Currently I am working in the area of epigenetic regulatory mechanisms in adult stem cells and its role in lineage differentiation of stem cells with respect to cardiac lineage.


I have done my B.Tech in Biotechnology from JNTU Hyderabad and M.Tech in Biotechnology from NIT Rourkela , Orissa. My research work involves construction of two chimeric humanized immunotoxins developed by conjugating TRAIL with cancer cell specific ligands for specific targeting of leukemia and solid tumors.


I completed Bachelor degree in life science from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra and pursued M.Sc. from Kumaun University. Currently my research interest is in developing novel combination therapy and its delivery against leukemic diseases.

Raj Pranap

With a Bachelor’s in technology, Biotechnology from Pratyusha University and Master’s in technology, Biopharmaceutical technology, form Anna University, Chennai. I have joined in the pursuit of understanding the unique environment of Microgravity and the Microenvironment of cancer for identifying novel therapeutic interventions.


Having completed my Biotechnology from Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore and Biotechnology from West Bengal University of Technolgy, Kolkata. My research involves unravelling the key players of cell signalling pathways that would be potential targets for Fanconi anemia, a disease characterised by bone marrow failure.


I have completed my undergraduation and post graduation from Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai and SRM college of arts and science, Chennai. My research area involves looking for effects of mesenchymal stem cells on glioblastoma multiforme.

Ahamed Fazil

After completing my masters (M.Tech.) in Nanoscience and Technology from Pondicherry University, my Doctoral research at IIT-Madras as an Interdisciplinary (ID) scholar revolves around the studies on natural biopolymer based hydrogels for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.


I completed M.Sc., M.Phil.,in Biotechnology and M.Tech in nanotechnology. Presently I am working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Biotechnology, K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode. I am a Part time Ph.D Candidate in the Department of Biotechnology and my area of interest is metagenomics. It involves cloning and analyzing the genomes without culturing the organisms in the community, thereby offering the opportunity to describe the planet’s diverse microbial inhabitants, many of which cannot yet be cultured. Metagenomics provides an additional set of tools to study uncultured and untapped microbes in the earth.


I have completed my bachelors from St Columba's College, Vinoba Bhave University. I pursued my masters in biotechnology from Calicut University. My current area of research is cardiac tissue regeneration in rat model using Cardiogel (a biological scaffold).

Arthi N

I pursued my B.Tech Biotechnology from Arunai Engineering College and M.Tech Nanoscience &Technology from Anna University,Chennai. My research work is on “Tissue Engineering of functional Cardiac muscle using 3-Dimensional biohybrid nanofibrous scaffold”

Dr. Mahadev

I have completed MD Radiation Oncology from Cancer Institute. Currently I am Head of Department, Radiation Oncology, Apollo Cancer Institute, Chennai. I am working on finding treatment for Glioblastomas.


I have completed my B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Odisha. I am currently pursuing dual degree program of M. Tech and PhD from IIT madras. My research work focuses on studying mechanical response of mesenchymal stem cells using indigenously developed microfluidic device.


I did my B.Tech in Biotechnology from Amity University, NOIDA and continued to pursue M.Tech in same stream from VIT University, Vellore. My field of area is targeting cancer stem cells resistant to radiotherapy which would help in avoiding cancer recurrence.


I have completed my Post Graduation in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of Technology University, Vellore. Presently my research work involves development of fluorescence based technology for diagnosis and therapy.


I have completed B.Sc in Microbiology from the Calcutta University, Kolkata and M.Sc in Biotechnology from KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. My research area is stem cell biology and tissue engineering. Currently, I am working on the development of vascularized liver tissue using mesenchymal stem cell.
