Eligibility Criteria

Entrance to the B.Tech programme is through the Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) (Mains) and JEE (Advanced); conducted at various centres across the country.General category candidate must have secured at least 75% marks in Std. XII board exam (with Mathematics, Physics as the compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biology or Biotechnology) or any of the equivalent qualifying exam. (65% for SC-ST category candidates)

Eligibility Criteria

1. B.E/B.Tech in Biotechnology/ Chemical Engineering/ Industrial Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engineering/ Biological Engineering with a GATE score in Biotechnology (BT)/ Chemical Engineering (CH)
2. Any other branch of Engineering with GATE score in Biotechnology (BT)/ Chemical Engineering (CH)/ Life Sciences (XL)

Eligibility criteria: Student must fulfill one of the following criteria:-

B.E/ B.Tech/ 4 year online / any recognised 4 year B.sc/ 4 year BS of IITs/CFTIs /UGC or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent. Valid GATE score is required for Regular-HTRA, Regular-Fellowship and Regular- Project-HTRA categories, except 4 yr B.S/4 yr B.Sc./B.E/B.Tech from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with CGPA ≥ 8.

Bachelor degree in Biomedical, Biotechnology, Biological//Biochemical Sciences, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Engineering Physics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Metallurgical, Material Science, Naval Architecture, Production / Manufacturing, Robotics/Automation, BS in Electronic Systems, BS in Data science, or Bachelor degree in Design (Engineering, B.Des), Bachelor of Physiotherapy/Sports Physiotherapy/Sports Science, MBBS/BDS degree. Duration of the eligible Bachelor degree programs should not be less than 4 years. Candidates possessing MBBS/BDS degree require a valid NEET PG qualifying score, to apply under the Half-time Teaching/Research Assistantship (HTRA) scheme. GATE Branches Accepted: BT, XL, BM, EE, EC, IN, CS, ME, CE, CH.

Selection Process:
Selection to the MS programs are based on performance in an interview and/or a screening test that will be held in the Online/Offline mode.
Available PhD project titles at the time of application are broadly classified into one of the below three streams.

  • Stream 1: Biological Engineering
  • Stream 2: Biological Sciences
  • Stream 3: Computational Biology

Applicants can choose to appear for the interview/exam and selection in only One Stream. Note that final admission is stream specific and candidates will NOT be allowed to switch streams after admissions.

Interested applicants are encouraged to examine the Department website that lists faculty expertise and their research areas/topics and then make an appropriate choice of the stream based on the applicant's academic background and research interests.

Eligibility criteria: Student must fulfill one of the following criteria:-

Master’s degree in any area of Engineering. Candidates with Master’s in biotechnology, chemical engineering, computer science and electrical engineering are particularly encouraged to apply.

  1. Master’s degree in any area of Science. Candidates with Master’s in any branch of life sciences, chemistry, mathematics and physics are particularly encouraged to apply. Master’s in Science must have qualified in GATE or any other national research fellowship examinations (CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, DBT-JRF, etc).3.
  2. Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  3. Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences
  4. Master’s degree in Veterinary Science
  5. Four-year undergraduate degree [B.Tech., B.E., B.Sc.(Agri.), etc.] with CGPA above 8.0 or 75% aggregate and having qualified in GATE or any other national research fellowship examinations.​
