ABOUT US
The Bioprocess & Metabolic Engineering Lab at IIT Madras conducts strong interdisciplinary research in Bioprocess and Metabolic engineering with active collaboration with industries and institutions in India as well as abroad. The laboratory is housed in the Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta School of BioSciences, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras. Currently the lab has 15 Research fellows, including Postdoc, Ph.D and MS research students. The long term focus of the lab is to develop Synthetic biology platforms and metabolic engineering strategies for Biotechnology. Also we are keen to develop strategies to employ on-line monitoring tools for Bioprocess besides our interest on bioseperation. Further, we also study the fundamental mechanisms of microbial molecular biology and stress adaptaion to understand how these impact the production and properties of the desirable microbial metabolites
